POLYMER MODIFIED REPAIR MORTAR FOR STRUCTURAL REPAIRS
Description
PATCHSET is one-component, polymer-modified, cementitious, non-sag mortar for structural concrete repairs. It is a multi-purpose trowelable fiber reinforced thixotropic repair mortar. It is suitable for placing in thicknesses of 5mm to 50 mm vertically and 5-15mm overhead.
Fields of Application
- Repair of spalling and damaged concrete in buildings, bridges, super structures etc.
- Vertical, overhead, and horizontal surfaces on concrete and mortar
- As general purpose repair mortar in a mild or moderate environment
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- One component, factory controlled for consistent quality
- High thixotropic consistency for overhead and vertical application
- Can be used for both structural and cosmetic repairs
- Excellent workability and adjustable consistency
- Good mechanical impact and tensile strength
- High bond strength ensures excellent adhesion
- To be mixed with potable water only
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
The concrete shall be free from dust, loose or friable material, surface contamination or other materials which reduce bond or prevent suction or wetting by repair materials. Rust, mild scale, mortar and concrete residues, dust and other loose or friable material and other contamination which reduces bond shall be removed. Pre-dampen the surface to a saturated surface dry condition. The surface should not be allowed to dry before application of the concrete repair mortar.
APPLICATION
Take a clean container/plastic pail of 25 liters capacity. Add 6 liters of clean, potable water in the container. Add half a bag of PATCHSET in this pail and mix using a heavy-duty drill (Ф18 mm) with a rust-free paddle at 300-400 rpm. The remaining half bag is added and mixed until a thoroughly blended paste is obtained. Let the mixture stand for 2-3 minutes and then stir again. PATCHSET is applied by traditional hand trowel technique. Mortar must be scrubbed into the substrate, filling all pores and voids. After filling repair, consolidate, then screed. Material may be applied in multiple layers. The thickness of each layer should not be less than 5 mm or more than 15 mm. Allow mortar to set to desired stiffness, then finish with wood or sponge float for a smooth surface, or texture as required.
